I was playing around with the Export feature, and I wanted to create a buglist which is in a way similar to a "long format" bugzilla buglist.

For this, it would be great if one could select the Description and Comments fields!

For a quick overview over a list of bugs, it might be a good idea to just be able to export the initial description for each bug (which is better than just the Summary to realize what a Bug is about), and for a complete "Bug Report", it might be necessary to export all Comments as well.

It's not clear how Description and Comments would look in a tabular format. A description can be quite a large text; same with comments. Some bugs in Mozilla bug database have 300+ comments. Certainly you wouldn't like to have all of them in an Excel cell.

What I'm thinking is some "Newspaper mode", where bug data with comments is output in an article format. Maybe with several columns to maximize the usage of screen/paper space.

Have you checked more closer the possibilities to export the descriptions? For at least some limited lenght for exported text (first xxx characters)??

Enabling the export also for initial description is what have been asked from me again and again.

Yes, I'm positive we'll make this feature available in version 1.3. It is planned for this summer.

Trimming long text to have only first N characters exported is a controversial idea, we'll have to think about it. May it's the only good way to export into CSV, maybe not.

I was wondering when the facility to export the bug description and comments would be available.
Personally, I would like to be able to export the description and ALL the comments in XML, so
that I can then apply my own XSLT to generate reports.
