While the heirarchical view is really great, it would also be nice to have a "customizable" dashboard that you see when you launch the application (or triggered by hitting a Home button).

Basically, you would be able to have a grid metrics view of critical items (e.g., # of NEW bugs, # of bugs in xxx priority, etc.)

Basically, it could be like a query, but just show numbers/counts and you could click on the count to drill down to the list view (like in a query).

Just a thought.

Am I getting this right: you would like to have a grid, which has, say, STATUS along one axis, and, say, PRIORITY along another axis, and in the cells there are counters? And when you click on them, you get the list of bugs that have the corresponding values?

This sounds great. I'm sure we'll have something like this implemented - if not in 1.0, then very soon afterwards.

Sort of. I'm still kind of thinking it out a bit more. Here's another way of looking at it...
Say I create some custom Queries (e.g., all NEW bugs assigned to me). I could then "drop" it onto the dashboard page and it would show:
- The name of the query
- The number of bugs resulting from that query

The number would then be hyperlinked to the actual query result.

Does that make sense?

Hmmm.... Ok - let's say you create a folder and name it DASHBOARD. In this folder, you can create a number of queries, each with its own meaning. After you run a query for the first time, you get the counter, which is automatically updated. This is what is possible to do now. So - how does this differ from what you propose?

Ah, interesting. I didn't think of that. I guess that that would work too. I guess that it would be nice to have that as a default landing page as opposed to just seeing it down the side and having to expand/collapse the view.

I get it - it's like favorites, which are placed somewhere else so they stand out from other queries. Someone had already proposed to put favorite queries to the toolbar, like in a browser.

I'll put it into our brainstorm list.
