Deskzilla needs to support Bugzilla configurations that use LDAP authentication. Its lack of this support stops us from buying it.

Thank you for your feedback! We are planning to implement LDAP support in Deskzilla 1.1. Stay tuned!

Hello,

LDAP is now supported. I would be thankful if you tried the latest version of Deskzilla in your environment.

Hi:
You do indeed support LDAP but I think with a difference. Bugzilla allows for authentication using the uid or cn attribute but it still defines the user by the mail attribute. Deskzilla appears (I think) to use the original login name rather than the user email that Bugzilla loads from the LDAP server. In keeping with the Bugzilla idea could you support the user e-mail as the user identifier even if the login name was, say, AAA.

Thanks for a nice product.

Hello,

Thank you for this observation! You are right, Deskzilla initially assumes that the username entered in the authentication parameters is the same as the user "id" or e-mail in Bugzilla.

But we have special code that looks on a Bugzilla page (we use query.cgi) after successful authentication in search for a real user id. (We expect it to appear next to the Logout link.) If it is found, Deskzilla should update the "current user" object with that id.

If that does not happen in your case, it is probably a bug that needs investigation.

Hi Igor:
Thanks for your note. I agree that you have found the "e-mail address". However, if you start a new bug report and go to the "Add me to CC list" then the LDAP ID is added to the CC list rather than the e-mail address. Is this what you want to happen?

Thanks a lot!

Now I see. I have created a record for this issue: http://bugs.deskzilla.com/show_bug.cgi?id=265

Igor
